FOI Beltane Letter 2023
From: Cressida Pryor

Dear FOI Friends,
The season swings around again in the blink of an eye...and we approach the glorious time of Beltane, May Day...
I wonder if the choice of an early May Saturday for the UK’s King’s Coronation was purely one to fit in with busy diaries and propitious bank holidays...Or was there an awareness that this time of Nature’s year, the energies of growth and conjunction matched the sense of ‘new growth, new monarch’? Throw in the preceding Friday’s full moon and you have a Royal Flush!
I have a Druid chum who is planning to sleep out on the Mall on the Friday night to get a roadside view of the processions and pageant the next morning...for her the chance to be part of such an event was too much of a pull to resist...this crowning of both a new King and a new Queen feels important to her and she wants to show her support by being present, waving flags and cheering loudly!
And like many of us I have a friend who finds the idea of bowing down to another person, to wait for a golden carriage bearing the ‘special couple’ totally repugnant...and others who have no particular views on the matter and will just carry on as ‘normal’...
However you feel about the impending earthly celebrations let us all honour the place of the Divine Mother and Father leading this world’s path through the Universe with love, tenderness and compassion...and to wrap up with some of Maya Angelou’s words: may the borderless sea of substance, give to all the world that which we need most—Peace.
Amen to that and So May it Be,
Cressida, FOI Steward.
