The Rt. Rev. Deena Butta passed peacefully into Spirit World on Sunday, 27th January, 2013. She has been one of my greatest friends since 1993, when we attended the Centennial Parliament of Religions in Chicago. Since then she produced the FOI Liturgy with consummate grace and skill, thus preserving the very meaning of our Manifesto with its emphasis on the Eternal Verities of Love, Beauty and Truth. Her husband and priest Ray, helped her in all these undertakings. I do hope that the Rev. Demetria Nanos will continue Deena's work for her Fellowship of Isis Lyceum and Iseum as she has so ably helped Deena in the past.
All our members who knew Deena respected her honesty, kindness and integrity. I feel sure that she is truly happy now with her son Maris who is now with her in Spirit Sphere, Realm of Truth and Goodness.

Dear Aset Shemsu,
It is with sadness that we post this announcement about the passing of the Rt.
Rev. Deena Butta, written by her good friend, Rev. Joan Forest Mage. Deena was
a much loved and dedicated member of the FOI, editor of Isis-Seshat, and also
was a part of the Star of Isis advisory board that helped moderate this list.
Please keep her and her family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during
this difficult time. Many blessings and good wishes to her as she travels a new
journey under the loving protection of the Goddess.
**********
It is with heavy heart that I share the news that my dear friend Deena Butta,
passed away this morning, January 27, 2013 at 7:20 AM Chicago time. She passed
away peacefully at her home with her husband Ray and sons Alex and Philip beside
her. Deena was an Archpriestess in the Fellowship of Isis.
For those of you who did not know, Deena had a rare brain disease called
Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD) which spreads very quickly and is almost always
fatal.
Several FOI members met at Deena's bedside at her home on Saturday Jan. 26,
reciting part of the Book of Coming Forth By Day and the 42 Negative
Confessions, and calling on Isis and other goddesses, gods and helpful spirits
to guide Deena. It was a very beautiful and powerful ceremony.
Please send prayers and good energy to Deena's eternal life.
Blessings,
Joan Forest Mage
