In Memory of Steve Wilson
I was sad to hear from a pagan colleague this week, that the Rev Steve Wilson, Archpriest in the Fellowship of Isis and Archdruid in the Druid Clan of Dana, has passed away after a long illness.
By: Sarah Rooke
I first met Steve at an FOI Convention in London in the 1990’s at Conway Hall. A larger than life character, his booming voice lit up the room and I remember him joking all the time.
He had been heavily involved in the FOI in its early days, and was instrumental in setting up one of the first Iseums/Lyceums in Britain
I had the privilege of working with him whilst representing my own Druid Order, the Berengaria Order of Druids, on the Council of British Druid Orders for many years whilst I was a member.
Also, at an ACAS session in London on Religion and Belief In the Workplace around 2005. He and I represented paganism and we did a ‘double act’, Steve gave the history of paganism, whilst I talked about my experiences at work. It was because of this work and that of others, that paganism became recognised and included in the ACAS documentation for employers in the UK.
I also remember bumping into him at a Trade Union conference in Brighton one year, though we worked for different aspects of the Civil Service at the time.
We were also involved in filming at Stonehenge one cold frosty day for a tv crew – and I remember us having tea afterwards
Steve was also well known in the London pagan scene and did work also for the Pagan Federation, the local SACRES and a group he set up called PEBBLE.
He will be greatly missed by many people who knew and respected him.
A very sad loss to the Fellowship of Isis, and British paganism in general.
Rest well Steve x

Nota Bene: Steve Wilson passed to Spirit Sphere on January 6th, 2017. Steve sent this into the Homepage when FOI co-founder Olivia Robertson passed away in 2013: "How sad that Olivia has passed to the fields beyond. I believe it will take some time for her immense contribution to the furtherance of the Aquarian Age to sink in. I know that my life would have been very different if not for her!"
